Ronda is also the birthplace of modern bullfighting. It was here that Pedro Romero, the legendary bullfighter from the famous dynasty of matadores de toros, invented the classical style of bullfighting and set up the rules of bullfighting.  Ronda’s Plaza de Toros is one of the oldest in Spain. Once a year Goyesca, the country’s most famous bull fight, takes place there. Lots of famous people visited the arena, for example, Ernest Hemingway or Orson Wells.
